DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

What we do and who we are
As an independent school, GHS relies heavily on voluntary support from our community. Tuition alone does not cover the cost to educate each child, so each and every student relies on the support of the Annual Fund to provide necessary resources, and the Annual Fund needs the support of those who value education and love St. John to provide those resources.

The Development Office is charged with the task of raising over $1 million dollars each year to cover the difference between the cost of running the school and monies received from tuition and fees. We fundraise through special events such as the Auction, the Annual Fund, and securing major gifts through individuals and corporations. In addition, the Development Office is responsible for all marketing and public relations.

The members of the Development Office team are:
Beth Jones, Development Director. Beth came to Gifft Hill School in the fall of 2007 after serving as a parent volunteer and a member of the school’s Board of Trustees. Beth is originally from Georgia and has lived on St. John since 1995. Her two children are students at Gifft Hill School. Beth oversees all of the work in the Development Office, works closely with the Head of School and the Board of Trustees, plans the Auction and Annual Fund, promotes the school to the community, and focuses on the overall strategic plan of the Development Office. In addition, Beth works closely with donors to secure major gifts.

Molly Murrill, Assistant to the Development Director. Molly joined the staff of GHS in the fall of 2009 after working as a volunteer and on the P.T.O. Molly is originally from Pennsylvania and has lived on St. John since 2004. Her two daughters attend Gifft Hill School. Molly’s responsibilities include event planning, Annual Fund administration, media relations, maintaining the donor data base, and acknowledgment of gifts.
