COMMUNITY
Gifft Hill School incorporates community service and philanthropy into our curriculum, with the belief that sharing our valuable resources such as time, hard work, and facilities is a positive experience for our students as well as our community. Please take a look at what we have to offer! We value suggestions and input and are always interested in volunteer supporters. If you are interested in volunteering for any of our programs or have an idea for a new one, please contact us.
Gifft Hill School Gives Back
For the second year in a row, Gifft Hill School would like to show our appreciation for all that our St. John friends do for our school by offering a day of service to non-profit organizations and people in need on Thursday, November 10, 2011. Last year’s event was a great success, and we are excited to expand on the project this year.
We are organizing teams of faculty and students (ranging in age from preschool through 12th grade) to do service projects in the community throughout the day, and we would like to understand how we can best assist local organizations. Please let us know how we can support you by telling us about projects with which you need help. Last year’s projects included beach clean-ups; office help; cleaning and maintenance projects at the Library, fire station, churches, senior center, and St. John School of the Arts; visit to the senior centers to provide companionship and singing by the youngest students; gardening help at Julius E. Sprauve School. Please contact us to help you assess your organization’s needs. Students and faculty in all grades participate in this important day, fostering a love for giving back to our community.

Gifft Hill School’s Great Room
Located at the Lower Campus on Gifft Hill Road, the Great Room has served as a community gathering spot for decades. Several churches hold their services here on Sundays, and many community organizations hold their meetings in this space.
Gifft Hill School’s own P.E. and Spanish teacher, Liz Putnam, holds dance/exercise classes for adults every Thursday at 4:30pm and every Saturday at 9:30am. A former professional dancer, Ms. Liz keeps each class entertaining and fun, and it’s sure to be a great workout!
Gifft Hill School Fitness Center
Gifft Hill School is now home to a fully equipped fitness center which is open to the public! The Westin St. John Resort & Villas generously provided the majority of our equipment. The fitness center is staffed by a team of professional trainers who are also available by appointment for personal training sessions (for an additional fee). Memberships to the fitness center are $40 per month, and the hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7-11am and 4-7pm as well as on Saturdays.
